This bowl is the classic tea and tsampa bowl of Tibet, before the advent of porcelain here. It is made from the burl at the base of an Umbrella Tree (a small bushlike tree of lower areas, related to Sassafras). It is handturned in Daocheng County.
These bowls are made of burls, and they are handturned. Each one varies slightly. If you like, please email info@definitelynomadic.com for exact photos.
